From RSpoetica
I started this blog soon after the death of my beautiful 17-year-old son, Hayden, as a way to deal with my grief. I titled it "Dear Hayden" because at first I wrote as if I was writing to him. My use of the word "dear" ended up being twofold: "used as an affectionate or friendly form of address" and "regarded with deep affection; cherished by someone." Many posts are saved quotes, song lyrics, Bible verses, poems, etc. with credit given to the actual authors as much as possible. Enjoy~

Mom explained
My mom did not sleep. She felt exhausted. She was irritable, grumpy, and bitter. She was always sick until one day, suddenly, she changed.

Doors
by Alexander Graham Bell
The famous saying, "when one door closes, another door opens," is actually a famous quote by Alexander Graham Bell. The quote ends with "but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the ones which open for us."

Self-betrayal
From Flying Free
- Sacrificing all of your needs in order to keep a relationship
- Keeping yourself over booked with obligations with no time left for you
- Achieving something to be validated by someone without truly wanting it for yourself
- Shaming yourself for your past choices, when those choices were made in survival mode
- Saying "yes" to things that later cause resentment
