She wears strength and darkness equally well, the girl has been half goddess, half hell.
I started this blog soon after the death of my beautiful 17-year-old son, Hayden, as a way to deal with my grief. I titled it "Dear Hayden" because at first I wrote as if I was writing to him. My use of the word "dear" ended up being twofold: "used as an affectionate or friendly form of address" and "regarded with deep affection; cherished by someone." Many posts are saved quotes, song lyrics, Bible verses, poems, etc. with credit given to the actual authors as much as possible. Enjoy~

Greatest gift
By Jim Rohn
The greatest gift you can give somebody is your own personal development.
I used to say, "If you will take care of me, I will take care of you."
Now I say, "I will take care of me for you, if you will take care of you for me."

Earned
Treat people the way you want to be treated.
Talk to people the way you want to be talked to.
Respect is earned, not given.

Outside
Before you have kids, nobody tells you that you'll be walking around with half your heart outside your body with no way to ensure its safety and happiness for the rest of eternity.
Comfort zone
Gma J has had this on her fridge for a while apparently. Noticed it for the first time today.
I used to have a comfort zone where I knew I couldn't fail.
The same four walls and busy work were really more like jail.
I longed so much to do the things I've never done before
But I stayed inside my comfort zone and paced the same old floor.
I said it didn't matter that I wasn't doing much.
I said I didn't care for things like goals, and dreams, and such.
I claimed to be so busy with the things inside the zone.
But deep inside I longed for something special of my own.
I couldn't let my life go by just watching others win.
So I held my breath and stepped outside to let the change begin.
I took a step and with new strength I'd never felt before
I kissed my comfort zone goodbye and closed and locked the door.
