The old you

From Ladies Pass It On

You don't have to defend the old you.

You didn't know then,

now you do.

You did what you could, with what you had, at the time.

And as with all things in life, you evolved, you've grown,

you've moved on.

So, if you find yourself trying in vain to defend the old

you, to argue on her behalf,

please stop.

You don't have to do that.

She was someone you parted ways with, gracefully but

after much suffering and if anyone in your life cannot do

the same,

that's their issue.

It's their job to catch up, not your job to go back.

You don't have to defend the old you.

You didn't know.

Now you do.
