Forgiveness

This is a topic that has been bothering me lately. It was a topic in our Bible study last week and the challenge was for us to not only forgive someone, but pray for blessings upon them. I can't do that for some reason. There are not a lot of people whom I have issues with, but the ones I do, I can't imagine doing that. It's horrible. But God is working on me. The following addresses the issue. It was part of the Daily Bible Verse and commentary that I get on my Facebook page.

Luke 6:32-36
But if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. And if you lend to those from whom you hope to receive back, what credit is that to you? For even sinners lend to sinners to receive as much back. But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil. Therefore be merciful, just as your Father is also merciful.

Commentary by Dave Whitehead
Following Jesus us a life of costly mercy. To love our enemies and do good to them seems impossible, but as we know more of the nature of God, who is merciful, we find the ability to love those who seem unlovable and we become sacrificial toward those who can't repay us at all. Faith in the good news about God changes us, and that change benefits everyone-even those we don't like.

Help me with this Lord!
