Thank you for all you did

Yesterday we met with a lawyer-friend of Dad's who suggested we seek replacement services compensation from the auto insurance for the services you provided for Hope and Carter. To make a long story short, I wasn't too keen on going, but the meeting turned out well. The idea behind it is to get compensation for services you performed for the household now that you can't perform them anymore. Things like driving the kids around, mowing the lawn, etc. Mike said most insurance companies don't even know how this coverage works, so a lawyer has to get involved to point it out to them.

One of the "assignments" I had to do was list the things you did for the kids and our household. You were such a big help-thank you for that! Especially with driving. Thanks for being so willing to run the kids around to practices, to Wolverine with you, church, etc. I MISS that! I noticed it a lot when Hope had driver's ed after school and I had to leave work to pick her up every day for six weeks. I know you would have done that for me, sweet boy. You were such a blessing to us and to them! Thank you!

Something else encouraging is that Mike offered to look at the complete police report to see if there are any discrepancies with the information. Maybe he can give us some answers! I would so love that! There are so many things that don't make sense. I don't want to get anyone in trouble or incriminate you at all, but Mike said whatever he finds will be up to us to pursue or not. (I'm going to go back through and change "lawyer" to "Mike" or "Mike Garris").

I cried all the way home with the thought that maybe you weren't at fault. Why are we feeling so sorry for the other driver? We don't know anything about him. What happened was so NOT YOU. I'm still convinced you were incapacitated in some way and Dad can't understand how even with that hill, how the other driver couldn't have seen you in his lane with how high his truck sits. Everyone makes mistakes, but taking some of the blame off of you would be such a comfort. It's so easy to blame it on the "young driver" but hasn't anyone heard of defensive driving? I could never understand head-on collisions because if one person sees another car coming at them, why don't they get out of the way? I don't mean to bad-mouth him, but he would have every reason to lie about his role in it-he could lose his job since he was in a work truck, be charged with something, etc. He is pretty much the only one who knows what really happened in the crash. The other car got out of your way (the Tippins' guy).

I am not seeking to sue anyone or anything like that. I just want a better investigation of what happened. Like why didn't they get a statement from Susie Fay? Why won't John Meadows answer/return phone calls to Citizens? Nothing's going to bring you back, but there are so many unanswered questions.

(A little side note: A few times when I was driving down Wagner Rd., I was amazed at how many random bikers are on that road. What a dangerous road to be on, period, let alone not in a car. Maybe you were getting over to get around a biker. When that happens, there really is nowhere to go on the road.)

LOVE YOU!

(Another note: I just wonder sometimes if you're trying to tell us something about the crash. I see Sables and Crop Production Services trucks EVERYWHERE!)
