Regularly

Children who were regularly
interrupted, unheard or
dismissed in conversation can
become adults that feel:

  • Constantly rushed to get their point across
  • Distracted by social cues of (dis)engagement and unable to focus on what they're trying to say
  • Like their thoughts or opinions don't matter or are irrelevant
  • Anxious people will get bored while they're talking
  • Hesitant to tell stories or share complex thoughts for fear people will tune out
  • Self-conscious about being tired, not "interesting enough", or introverted
  • That people who listen are burdened by their presence
