Our job

It's not our job to convert people.
It's not our job to save people.
It's not our job to convict people.
It's not our job to convince people.

It's our job to tell people.

The convincing, convicting,
converting, and saving is the work
of the Holy Spirit.

~J.C. Ryle

Abounding mercy

 "Do not look to human
strength, but look to the
abounding mercy of God
in Christ Jesus."

~Charles Spurgeon

Destroy me

 Relatable...

If he asked,
I would let
him destroy me
cell by cell
until nothing but
dust and bone remained.

40 years

 Moses spent 40 years thinking he was somebody;
40 learning he was nobody;
and 40 discovering what God can do with a nobody.

~D.L. Moody

Destructive capacity

 From Flying Free Now

Do not dismiss the power or
destructive capacity of either
verbal or emotional abuse. Do not
think you cannot kill a soul with
words alone. Do not think, "Well,
at least he didn't hit her." Yes, he
did. He just didn't use his fists."

~Diane Langberg

Attempt to control

What you attempt to control the most often
reveals where you trust God the least.

Above water

You call this love?
This allowing me to drown
while I struggle to keep you
above water.

~L.E. Bowman

Genuinely love

When you genuinely love someone, the idea of
cheating doesn't even cross your mind. True love
means respecting and cherishing your partner, and
not causing them intentional pain. Breaking
someone's trust is breaking their soul. If you find
yourself unhappy, it's better to walk away than to
betray their trust. Cheating is not an act of love; it's a
clear sign of a lack of it. Simple as that.

~R.M. Drake

Can't wait

From she is the poem by june bates

I can't wait to live a good life with you.
To have coffee in the morning
and love in the afternoon.
To hold your hand.
To kiss your face.
To love you loudly,
in front of everyone
and then quiet again
just between us.

Such sacrifices

Saw this verse in two different places yesterday:

"And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased."    Hebrews 13:16

Hides

 The enemy likes
to hide wolves
inside sheep's
clothing

But that's okay

God hides lions
inside of lambs.

The sweet presence

  rest in the sweet
presence of God

it's a tough day
He knows.
It's been a rough season
He has seen it all.

Your hidden heartaches are known to Him.
Your tears are seen. Your prayers are heard.
God has not forgotten you.

~joenasandiego

Your job

Your job is not to judge.
Your job is not to figure
out if someone deserves something.
Your job is to lift the fallen,
to restore the broken,
and to heal the hurting.
Your job is to give away kindness.

The strength

 God didn't promise a life
without pain, struggles, and
hardships. He promised
to give you the strength to
get through them.

Who you are

 Do things for people
not because who they
are, or what they do in
return, but because
of who you are.

First

Bring your loaves and fishes first, and let God do the rest.

The One

May the One who stilled the storm,
Still the disquiet within you.
May the One who tamed the chaos,
Tame the confusion within you.
May the One who lifted up the lowly,
Lift the despair within you.
May the One who named you beloved,
Name you and claim you and carry you,
In all ways, always. Amen.

Enumerate

From A.W. Tozer, The Root of the Righteous

In trying to
count our many
blessings the
difficulty is not
to find things to
count, but to
find time to
enumerate
them all.

Unspoken belief

 From Flying Free Now

How did our church leaders
ever come to the (unspoken)
belief that
marriage was the one place
where evil behavior could
abound freely without
restraint?

Rememberers

We are the rememberers.
the people left behind.
to keep the one
who's gone from us
alive in heart and mind.

the people left to cherish
and preserve a legacy.
Yes, we are the rememberers...

and we will always be.
