The Man in the Glass
I started this blog soon after the death of my beautiful 17-year-old son, Hayden, as a way to deal with my grief. I titled it "Dear Hayden" because at first I wrote as if I was writing to him. My use of the word "dear" ended up being twofold: "used as an affectionate or friendly form of address" and "regarded with deep affection; cherished by someone." Many posts are saved quotes, song lyrics, Bible verses, poems, etc. with credit given to the actual authors as much as possible. Enjoy~

Hold your hand
One day a man was crossing a bridge in life but was scared so he turned and asked God, "Can I hold your hand so I may not fall?" God said, "No, my child, I will hold your hand." He asked, "What's the difference?" God replied, "If you hold my hand and something happens, you might let go but if I hold your hand, no matter what happens, I will never let you go." May the Lord hold your hand tightly in all your ways.

Hard days
- A bad day does not equal a bad life. (You are not this struggle)
- Not all thoughts are true. (Phew)
- Feelings are not facts (But all of your feelings are valid, real, and allowed)
- The only way out is through (Darn it)
- Your worth is not contingent on circumstances (You are LOVABLE and ENOUGH always)
- Nothing stays the same (Life guarantees this)
- You can't be everything to everyone (But you can be true to yourself)
- Be gentle with yourself. And trust your inner voice, strength, and resilience
- You're not alone. It's okay to ask for help (And be vulnerable)
- Focus on the things you can control (Let go of the rest)-easier said than done
