Give thee

 from "Old Collection"

I found several Daily Readings (not sure of the year) that were ripped off a pad and saved. This one says it's from Friday May 31st, but don't know what year. Interesting to see what concerned me whenever this was.

Ask what I shall give thee.   ~1 Kings 3:5

Early in Solomon's reign, God asked, "What shall I give you?" Solomon asked for wisdom, not wealth. While the Lord doesn't promise wealth to those who follow Him, He gives us what we need, if we put His matters first (Mt. 6:31-33). Setting our sights on riches will leave us dissatisfied because we will always want more. In fact the failing of man is not so much in possessing as in wanting. But if we put God and His work first, He will satisfy our deepest needs. Which would you rather have?      ~Dennis R. Crump

Great is Thy faithfulness, great is Thy faithfulness,
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided,
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me.
